Good news Oppo. I think I've finally learned my lesson.

So I bought one of those nifty $60 Hub/quick-release/Steering wheel combos against better judgement and an avalanche of advice.

Guess fucking what? It's terrible.

Now, as punishment for my stupididy, I can't get the goddamned hub off of my steering column. Went and rented a wheel puller from AutoZone...doesn't fit. Tried a hammer...won't come off.

So now, due to my stupidity, my car "doesn't run". I gotta figure out how to get that cheap piece of hand-drilled $14 shit off of my car.

Gonna go ahead and bite the bullet on a $300 NRG kit or something next time. I really think I'm finally done buying the cheapest shit Ebay can cough up at me...It bites me in the ass way too often.

Good news for legitimate manufacturers. Shit news for ebayophiles.

But its true. The steering wheel is a major safety component, don't skimp I guess.

It happens to me too goddamn much, and you know whose fault it is??

It's mine. And that's probably the worst part. No mas. Gonna have to spend money like the big boy everybody keeps telling me I am.

Yeah, even I had a bad feeling about this one. I've cheaped out on gauges (non critical ones anyway), oil catch cans, stereo components, etc...

...I just can't do it anymore. I'm tired of getting broken crap from these guys. To hell with them.

With cheap parts, it's always a case of pay a little now, pay a lot later.

Post pics and we may be able to help. If the hub has any kind of lip on it you may be able to use a pulley puller.

See, if AZ had given me one of those, I can tell you without a doubt that I could have gotten it to work.

Unfortunately, they gave me...well, a different one.

My oppo-in-spirit/drinking buddy is coming over tonight. He's a gym guy (whereas I'm a software engineer) so maybe he can use his muscles and get it off of there.

Otherwise, I could always check out O'rileleleley. they might have a different type.

It's a gamble every time. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes not. I'm a huge fan of rolling the dice after doing the research, like many DSMers before me. Buick boost solenoid? Great. Denso coil packs from a Honda Civic? Sign me up. DIY adjustable end links? Yes please!

Sure it backfires sometimes, but when it works, know that you've come up with a creative solution, adding character and personalization to your project, and stretching your budget for every last HP.

Lol, remember when I said "without a doubt"?

Well, that wasn't quite right. I went and grabbed one from my local orilirielirrlireies (I will never learn how to spell the name of that shop properly. I liked it better when it was called "Shucks"), and did my damnedest to get it hooked on there right. I ended up breaking it because I stripped out one of the nuts trying to tighten it too much apparently.

Ended up that I just had to apply patience and a hammer. 15 minutes of moderate-strength tapping all around the thing and it finally popped off last night. Thank god.
